Who is Eclair at the Bay?

Eclair at the Bay is a unique homemade pastry business that specializes in contemporary eclairs and luxury desserts for all gourmands and sweet lovers. Located in the heart of the coastal town of Byron Bay, they create delicious eclairs and baked goods in a quaint and relaxing environment, using fresh ingredients and supporting local producers. Eclair at the Bay aims for the highest quality possible in their products. Besides sourcing high-quality ingredients, they are equally concerned with the sensory and visual aspects of their products and their storytelling.

The team at Eclair at the Bay takes pleasure in reimagining classic desserts in their unique way, crafting memorable treats for their customers. They extend an invitation to everyone to indulge in sweet treats, discover the art of pastry, and enjoy the sweet life.

Our Process

Our challenge was to capture the modernity and luxury atmosphere of Eclair at the Bay, reminiscent of a European patisserie, while appealing to an Australian audience in a small surf culture town like Byron Bay. We aimed to create a cohesive identity, considering both the function of the pastry shop and its potential as a brand for growth, expansion, and merchandising.

Eclair at the Bay's distinctive brand identity beautifully merges the sophistication of a high-end European pastry shop with the laid-back, slow-paced vibes of Byron Bay. We aimed to represent this cohesion in the logo itself, so we designed a hand-drawn surfboard eclair brand mark, echoing their origins and signature product. It has become a symbol for the shop and is used on collaterals, stickers, shop front, and packaging. The color palette draws inspiration from serene ocean tones and the royal blue commonly associated with France, enhanced by touches of gold, a hallmark of luxury pastry businesses.

The typography has been selected to play on this duality as well, with a classic serif and a rounded modern for all the body text.

This cohesive branding extends across all touchpoints, including shop interiors, the website, social media platforms, packaging, and merchandise, ensuring a consistent and memorable brand experience for Eclair at the Bay's vision to become a go-to foodie destination throughout Australia.
